Tory election chief's desperate plea as polls send morale through floor

DESPERATE Tory chiefs pleaded with their fed-up candidates 'Don't believe the polls' in a bid to shore up plummeting morale.
Election strategist Lynton Crosby was forced to write a letter warning of a 'difficult period'.
The Mirror has obtained a copy of the letter, which reveals the panic inside Tory HQ.
A senior aide to Michael Howard admitted that Conservatives were being told not to give up but to ignore poll figures."
